I don’t want to hear it, Not One Single Word about my enormous gaps in blogging. It isn’t my desire to leave you hanging from my ultra exciting life….I just can’t, in good conscience, put the time in. If I were Dooce and got paid out the butt to blog…well…then I would find the time. But seeing as all of you read and none of you pay me…WELL…you get what you get! Cash and checks are welcome though.
So this is a quick one. I need to hear some opinions on The Bachlorette!!!! You heard me. Superficial TV at it’s finest. Anyone in blogland watching this season? Oh my word, I am so stinking hooked. Usually I watch because Monday nights blow for TV and it is so junior high…like watching a trainwreck of bad decisions…BUT….this time I am so feeling Deanna’s sincerity.
I totally did NOT like her when she was one of the ladies on The Bachelor. Talk about a “know it all”. I have since warmed up to her and feel like she is one of the only ones to really care about the guys’ feelings and not lead anyone on. She doesn’t take any B.S. which I really appreciate. She is really mature for 26.
So yesterday morning at 6:25 am as I am breastfeeding Bennett in bed I caught up on my episode on ABC.com…..thank you ABC. Not a bad way to spend the morning hour if you have to get up so early. Ryan is working a new summer shift for the school system…a four-day work week. So he gets Monday’s off all summer but has to pull 10 hour days Tues-Friday. He goes in from 6:00-4:30. So basically I get to hear him clanking around in the five o’clock hour then the kids seem to know that they should wake up and keep mommy up. So not cool. I want to drop kick Chloe because she used to sleep till 7:00 and now for the last few months she thinks 5:45-6:30 is much better! We have upped her bedtime an hour and it has made NO difference. W T H?????? Bennett is still a dream and has been sleeping 7-9 hours straight at night. YUPPPPPPPERS, at 7 weeks he is sleeping like a champ. Thank you Jesus.
Anyway….
So….Jessie. Super dooper love him with a cherry on top. I think it was because my brother is into extreme sports so I grew up around those types of guys that I have a soft spot for ones who actually pull their crap together but are still a total goof ball. I do not condone his style of dress. White suit…come on Jessie…this is not Miami Vice. But I will forgive his clothing faux pas because he is such a gentlemen, hilarious, and sweet. I love his OCD tendencies…labels on his kitchen cabinets…WHOA! Even though he is my favorite I don’t think she will pick him in the end. My guess is he and Jeremy will be the last two.
Jeremy….I fight the fact that I love Jessie so much that I think Jeremy is more of a dill than he probably really is. He just isn’t my type. He is a little too reserved and square for me, but I can’t deny they do share a bond with both losing parents. I think he may be the front runner but she has surprised me many times throughout the show…so who knows.
Jason. He is very very very sweet. I don’t see him with Deanna in the end, even though I think he is a class act and a very loving dad. I don’t have much to say about Jason. He is vanilla, not really memorable, but when someone brings up his name you think… He is nice.
Graham….day late, dollar short buddy. Yeah you are hot, but you are a dill times ten. He did actually shed real tears in the end. That was the most vulnerable he had been the whole time. I think she was wise to let him go even though she was most attracted to him. Been there, done that, not worth it. I think she would have always been working 200% in that relationship to get him to communicate and not be so withdrawn. Mysterious is fun at first, but not husband material.
Can. Not. Wait for next Monday for the tell-all episode and fantasy dates.
Is it sad how giddy I get when I wake up on Mondays knowing that The Bachelorette is on that night? Yeah, pretty pitiful, don’t judge….we all have TV shows that are guilty pleasures. So if you can’t wager in on The Bachelorette, tell me your guilty pleasure show. Ryan and I straight up love America’s Next Dance Crew…..we can watch ENDLESS hours of home renovation shows…ENDLESS hours and Candace got me hooked on “What I like about you”….Amanda Bynes and Jenny Garth…I know, I know, I know…but it really is funny in that corny predictable way. (this show was watched pre-Bennett…I can’t watch any adult tv during the day.)
So go on…fess up….confession is good for the soul. What’s your guilty TV pleasure?

Kelly!!! I AM totally there with you. You’ve got to read my post about it. You KNOW my favorite is Jesse–probably because I married one of those guys
I completely agree with your “review”. I cannot even handle Jeremy–BORING. Way too safe, drives me crazy. Jason is super sweet but I don’t think she’ll pick him. I think she really wanted Graham but I’m with you, probably not husband material. I have to wait to watch it on Tuesday’s on TV and yesterday I was completely being a bad mom and ignoring my children for 45 minutes while I figured out what happened. Anyway, just wanted you to know you’re not alone. Fantasy dates here we come!!
http://growntoglory.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/the-bachelorette/
I meant on the computer–not on TV. You know what I mean.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh! I know!!!! I am hooked too! (Though I disagree about Monday night TV. Jon and Kate plus Eight on TLC!! My favorite!!)
Usually at this point in the show, I am thinking that I can’t believe the person is stuck with these ding-dongs. But as I watched her home-town dates, I was thinking these are all great guys!
Jesse has totally grown on me! But I do not see them together. When she was in his apartment, she stuck out like a sore thumb! She is all fancy-pants and he is chill-ster. I just don’t see it.
I really like Jeremy. I just think he sincerely cares for her and would treat her like gold. But, I think the perfection might end up being a little too much for her.
I think Jason has more of chance than it seems. His family was so great! The one thing I keep thinking about is why they haven’t said a word about the ex-wife. I mean, that is a HUGE deal! Having to work through things with another parent would be VERY intimidating to me. I can’t believe she hasn’t asked more about that situation. (I actually wondered if the mom only agreed to allow Ty to be on the show if they didn’t bad mouth her. Ya think?)
Graham - she made the right decision. Passion is only one part of a marriage. Communication is just as important! He had series issues there. She was very mature to do that.
Can’t wait until next week! Glad to hear I am not the only mom dying to see the outcome!
I just watched the end of the rose ceremony this past Monday. I forgot it was one or else I am usually hooked, but I’ve haven’t been able to turn on the TV much lately. Seth calls me the “10 second fan” because he thinks if I watch ANY show for the first 10 seconds I get hooked…maybe he is right which is why I don’t turn on the TV to often.
I need to watch another show before I can figure out who is the one. I’m not sold on any of them just yet. I’ll let you know next week.
Other guilty pleasures….Last Comic Standing, ANY TLC or HGTV show, So you think you can Dance….I know, terrible!
So glad Bennett is sleeping so well. That rocks!
And Abel has been getting up at 5:30 for the past 2 months. It SUCKS SO BAD and I have tried NUMEROUS times to put him to bed later and it doesn’t work. I will NEVER be used to 5:30 and I don’t see it changes anytime soon. I usually have a pitty party for myself every morning….
Oh my friend…MY FRIEND…you have no idea the love I have for the train wreck of the Bachelor/Bachelorette series. I was pretty sure I hated DDHANNA too much to watch - but I was wrong. I’m hooked. Addicted. Count down the hours. Jesse has won me over…but I have to say Allison Morgan and I cried 342 times over Jason’s hometown date. TY IS THE CUTEST THING ON EARTH. Naming ducks “Ted.” Hilarious!
I will also use this forum to admit I love “So You Think You Can Dance” on an unprecedented level. I watch some dances 3-4 times. Like last week’s Shayne Sparks routine. Holy crap. Watched it three times. That show is just brilliant. I’m hoping my dog has enough talent to play it off like she’s just a small person with lots of hair…and can get herself on next season.
I used to be a Bachelor or rette watcher but now my husband is home in the evenings and he makes me feel so incredibly guilty and trashy for watching it, it takes all the fun out of it. I’m still sad that Andrew Firestone and Jen broke up.
My guilty TV pleasure… sometimes we watch Last Comic Standing…
I too am hooked, and basically agree with you except I really like Jason too. I love Jesse but I can’t decide who I want her with……Jesse or Jason…..but this week’s episode was the best ever!!
FINALLY, someone else admits to watching that show! I have been afraid to say that I am addicted to it! I have to watch it when my husband is not around because he is not a fan!
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I, too, look forward to Monday nights, ha ha!
Okay, so I think she made a mistake. I don’t see her marrying Jessie, and I think her and Graham stood a chance…maybe?!?!? I think it will be between Jason and Jermey in the end. If I were her, I have no clue what I would do!
Anyways, it is interesting, to say the least! Have an awesome day!
I LOVE The Bachelorette and am completely hooked. I like Jesse and I think he’s super sweet but I don’t see her with him at the end. I was a big fan of Jeremy’s throughout most of the show but he’s sort of soured on me. I still think it’s a better match than Jesse but I think Jeremy has a controlling side to him (all the times he pulled her away for a one on one). Jason - I love him and think that he’s the one. He has his life together and really cares about her. As hot as Graham was I was soooo happy to see him go. What an idiot! Way too many issues for her to deal with. Ahhh, so nice to dish about this show.
I have somehow got myself hooked on this seasons show also. My husband groans when I annouce it’s on and promptly moves himself to the computer for the next hour or 2!
As much of a ‘thing” D had with Graham it really seemed more of a relationship of lust rather than love.
Jeremy creeps me out! Really he does there is just something to “perfect”, about him I just don’t like him.
Jesse and Jason are my favs but I’m not sure who she’ll end up with.
This is one crazy season. I missed the first two at home visits so I’ll have to go back and see them. She seemed really comfortable with Jasons family though.
Great Post!
Yeah for B’s sleeping and sorry to hear about Chloe’se early wake up call. It doesn’t take much for them to get settled on a new sleep schedule. Hopefully she’ll start waking later soon.
The show I am watching lately is “Farmer Wants A Wife”. It’s sort of like the Bachelor, only it is a guy in the country with city girls competing to be his wife. Tonight is the finale - I hope he picks Brooke.
oh sweet LORD, i can’t believe you just blogged about this. i mean, i read my run of the mill “bachelor recap blogs” on tuesday mornings, but i’m THRILLED to see that you are equally wiling to shred and dissect this show into a million pieces because it’s SUCH A GUILTY PLEASURE!!!!!
yeeehaw!
yeah.
this season was a REALLY dreaded one for me. i swore it off, actually, b/c i HATED deAHHHna so much from the last time she was on nat’l television. not to mention, i need time to bask and soak in the glorious season of late - with my homegirl Shayne.
i felt ABC was making a terrible mistake by forcing dee back on us, so quickly, without being invited. and truthfully, i skipped the first 2 episodes - but being home alone (travelling hubby) has left me up late at night — with only my laptop to comfort me in bed — catching up on all the juiciness i had fallen behind on!!
i’ve decided this MAY be one of the best seasons ever and i’m shocked that just came out of my mouth!
personal favorite = jason.
sorry.
he’s just so freaking sincere and transparent and giddy around her and it’s adorable.
jesse is a VERY close runner up and will soon pass up all the boys if HE HONESTLY says no to the “forego your own room and stay in a fantasy suite” option. class act, man. and hello — did you NOT want to rewind their first kiss on the carriage a million times? he looks like a FANTASTIC makeout partner.
ahem.
so.
yeah — i’m totally with you.
nothing says “BRING ON THE NEW WORK WEEK” like a little monday night ABC.
it’s the one thing that makes me wish away my weekends…
i’m officially pathetic.
I am totally hooked on The Bachlorette too!! After Monday’s episode I am totally rooting for Jesse. I think they would work the best together and enjoy life to its fullest. I really like Jason too, but I think I like him just because he is from WASHINGTON! I don’t know why, but I think that Jeremy is too good to be true. They may share the bond of loosing a parent, but I think that is it. She keeps saying that he is perfect and everybody knows, NO ONE IS PERFECT.
JESSE ALL THE WAY!!!!
LOVE IT! Not surprised at all that you love it too. I’m also hooked. I watch EVERY season of the batchelor. I force Dustin to sit on the couch and watch it with me. He’d never admit it but he’s totally into it. I also heart Jessie. He is the sweetest/cutest and I want her to choose him with all my heart but I think she will choose Jeremy.
I feel the same way you do about Jeremy. He’s a bit too stuffy for me. I want him to be goofy and make her laugh. I see that they have a real bond there about the death of their parents but is it enough to base a marriage upon? Hmmmm…
Jason…totally vanilla. That is hilarious. It also bug me that his eyes are so close together. Yeah, I’m a bit superficial that way. Close eyes. No Jason.
Graham…I was feeling for him last night. I think he’s seen his mistake and is most likely kicking himself for it. But, I also agree that their entire relationship would’ve continued on in the same way. There is NOTHING worse than trying to get someone to open up to you. SO frustrating. Good move Deanna. Poor girl.
There’s my two bits. So we’re pretty much in agreement there.
I’m also SUPER proud of the fact that Jessie turns down the overnight date from what I’ve seen in the preview for next week. I hope it benfits him and doesn’t hurt him.
The only thing that’s different between our feelings is that I’ve always liked Deanna and I think Brad is a jerk for letting her get away and leading her on like that.
PHEW!
Done?
Done.
Go Jessie.
I must admit I’ve actually never watched it!… although I am intrigued about Bennett sleeping 7-9 hours already! My little Zach (7 weeks today) is still doing the 3-4 hour deal. But it’s all good… he smiles at me so that’s all that matters!
We don’t usually have many of the Bachelor or Bachelorette series over here (at least on free-to-air telly) in Australia, and I have never gotten into them the times they have been on. And the Mark Phillippousis series was marketed as a comedy here - don’t know if that’s how it was in the US - I think most of us thought it was a cringe-worthy joke! My guilty pleasure is So You Think You Can Dance, though we are way behind you in the season we are up to.
Ok, so I love this show. I have never gotten into it, but I happened to catch the first episode because Pat’s schedule switched and I had the tv all to myself. I too wake up realizing it’s Monday and promptly remember it’s Bachelorette night. I like Jason. Jeremy will probably win, but there’s something I really like about Jason. I love how DeAnna cried when he saw his son for the first time in weeks…I actually cried too. I ralso ally liked his family. Joe is here and just told me that Richard is actually a kid from our school in Sauquoit!! His sister was one of my good friends. I thought he looked familiar, but the last time I saw him, he was in 8th grade so I can’t be faulted too much for not knowing who he was. He did, however, bring her a Herkimer diamond the very first day and I knew I HAD to know him because that’s up where we lived. Crazy, huh??? Again…small world. I think either Richard or Jessie should be the next Bachelor because, let’s face it…she’s not choosing Jessie. I just don’t see it, even though I do really like him.
ralso ally? i meant ‘i also really’… how the heck did that happen?
Man, I would have totally picked Graham to only be single again. Sadly, he’s the dude I have always dated.
Guilty pleasure? Cheaters. I only watch it when I’m pregnant or nursing.
This is so cool and funny that you posted about the bachelorette. I liked Deanna on the the show when she was in “the girls”. I did, it’s true. I wanted her to “win”/be picked!
And when I heard it was going to be here, I was excited. But didn’t really get into it. My Mom watches it told me to watch this week when they went home on their dates. AND MAN and I HOOKED! Crap I was even crying watching it. Is that bad? I am a sucker for a guy who is good with kids, and I was kinda in love with the part about him seeing his son! Oh man! You could have stopped the show right there in my opinion and let them three walk off into the sunset together, as a happy little family!
I bet the boys mom watches and HATES Deanna! Haha!
Anyways thanks for posting about it, I was so going to, now maybe I don’t need to!
And also what is up with kids switching from wakeing at a decent time to NOT. Jaia did the same as Chloe. He would wake up at 7:30 I was so happy with that, then switched it to 6! Boo hoo! And yeah pushing the bed times never works! WHY? Oh WHY NOT?
Good luck! I’ll think of you in the wee hours!
So after reading your post yesterday I realized there is some stuff I’m missing by not watching the telly on a regular basis. I was all about the Bach last season. Then he went and dumped them both. Sooooo after reading your post I did what any good mother would do…. I locked my children out of my bedroom so I could catch up with what’s happening this season!!! lol…. naturally my house is a disaster today…. we can’t even start breakfast yet because I don’t think there is a bottom to my kitchen sink, but…. at least I’m in the know on this seasons show! I just don’t know how I feel about Jesse. It reminds me of “Average Joe.” When this super cute blondie was the one who was picked and he went and “freaked” out over the Fabio thing. Which to me proved he wasn’t really in it to begin with. Although I haven’t watched every episode for this season’s show it almost seems as if Jesse never expected to make it this far… and so… maybe he isn’t totally into this. Jeremy… uhhh… how did he even make it this far? Now, Jason… yeah… he’d be my pick if I were her! Child and all. It’s as if he’s wearing this sign that say “I came to find a wife and not just puppy love.” But… that’s just my run down from the few hours I devoted to playing catch up yesterday. Thanks Kelly for being so real…. I’ll be away for the weekend but now I can’t wait to get back on Monday and watch the next show!
I just started watching last week so I can’t give you my opinion but it is addicting.
Sorry about your sleep, Ian wakes up when anyone gets up so I know how you feel.
I gotta confess that when I’m alone eating my lunch, and I flip on the TV, I love to watch Judge Maria Lopez. First, where do these people come from?! Second, Ms. Lopez takes no crap from nobody - and I love to watch her throw down.
i can’t believe you don’t have time to blog and you spent a good amount of time blogging about THIS!? (enter the only girl you know who has never watched said show…) it’s not that i don’t want to but my schedule is so weird that i never have time. the only show i’ve been watching is ’so you think you can dance’ and even THAT i only catch like an hour of a week…..more likely less than that. sooooooo yes. sorry. can’t add to this convo.
i do still love u tho and i love that u want to ‘drop kick’ your daughter. nice, really nice. she won’t be at all affected by that later in life!
i actually watched it on monday for the first time this season with my friend emily. and me and mr. balzano totally just sat there and made fun of it.
i’m so glad i decided to get rid of cable last year.
oh but if i’m at my parents and clean house is on? forget about it. i’d watch it all day.
I watched the first few episodes and was getting hooked when Alex started playing baseball, so I’ve been a good, faithful wife and take Xan to watch his Padre play on Monday nights. Jeremy, isn’t he the lawyer or real estate guy? He comes across like a total dill, but I think it’s his self confidence and the fact that he’s quiet. Graham is fun, but she won’t pick him, not dependable enough for family material.
OK the real comment I want to leave is that I CAN NOT BELIEVE Bennett is sleeping through the night before Xan! Hating you right now, but I guess you deserve it because you have a toddler who is getting up at an ungodly hour of the morning. Xan usually sleeps for close to 12 hours, but I have to feed him every three hours, but he’s so sweet at night, I don’t even mind (usually) isn’t zat veird?
I am so addicted to this show as well. I am the same as you… Giddy when i realize it is monday and it is on that night! Pitiful. Your description, a trainwreck of bad decisions, is dead on. Too funny. I like Jessie too. He is so cute and they seem to have a lot in common. I do LOVE Jason as well. I think they both want the same things out of life. Jeremy is ok. Kinda dull when it all comes down to it. I am glad Graham is gone. He loved himself too much for my tastes, but he was some serious eye candy!
So, we dont hear from you and then we get a post about the bachlorette…sigh..I dont even watch that show. I want to see pics and cuteness and hear poo stories. LOL. I know I know thats coming from someone who hasnt updated thier blog in months but I miss your posts!!!! I will be here refreshing daily for pics. If I pay you will you put some up? just kidding.
SPOILER! I live in Dallas and my best friend waited on Jeremy and an unknown hot Dallas poser type last weekend. He kept calling her babe and they were referencing the previous weekend when Twilley had come to town to par-tay.
SO! We know it is NOT Jeremy in the end and I am rooting like all get out for Jason. How could you NOT love him?
My birthday was a few Mondays ago and I was more excited to watch The Trashelorette than anything else that day! I, too, am beyond pathetic.
I hope Jason wins. He is my VOTE!!! And I am so addicted to this show and LOST…
