Nope…not yet

Deep sigh, deep breath, let it out. I actually got up to 8 minutes apart last night for a 45 minute duration and I was thinking this is it…they are going to start picking up and nope…petered off into sporadic-ville! So close, yet so far. They are definitely getting much more intense like labor pains deep in the pelvis and down the legs. All the fun and no Bennett, how lucky can I be?

I had a great playdate this morning with my girlfriends which is helping me keep my mind off my CRAZY body. I realize I am not even close to my due date so I really have no business acting so put out, but all these “signs” sure make it hard to not get excited moment to moment. So anyway, that is the update for today.

As requested, here are pictures of Bennett’s nursery. I absolutely love his bed set. Ryan is mucho picky about patterns so I knew I had to find something boyish, but not too cliche. We went with a fish theme. I am having trouble deciding what to put on his shelves and walls. I want to incorporate more animals but not look like Disney World blew up in his room. Any suggestions? I have been looking on Etsy for some graphic prints…I may just go that route and frame a collage of some really cool illustrations of animals.

I went with black furniture for Bennett. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE his crib. I got a killer deal on it and it is so masculine and strong and balances out the lightness of his bed set. His wall color is labeled celedon, but there isn’t that much green in the walls, it is kinda a funky blue. So he has a color scheme of “funky” blue, lime/grass green, white, mocha brown, and black.

So here you go. For some reason when I edit photos and put them on Flickr, it is washing them out. Ryan gives me a big lecture about a photo having a “color profile” and that the internet does not accept all colors without a profile….blahtidy blah blah blah….just look like how I edit you! So these are a bit blown out looking…sorry. It frustrates me so much. The color is much more rich in person.

Bennett's Nursery

I love the patterns in his set and I am in love with the matching knit blanket. Double heart, triple stampy no erasey love it!

Gotta love the air conditioning unit and radiator in the background. Just a classy little touch.

This is the softest blanket in the world from Pottery Barn that Aunt Brittany gave Bennett personalized. Again, hard to see with the flippin internet not accepting my edits.

I splurged on this print. It just makes me smile.

This is my sign I made for Bennett to mimic the fish bubbles in his set. I have no idea what to do with it. I want to frame it, but I don’t know where to hang it. Hmmmmm…….

Bennett's Nursery

The mirror on the floor is Ryan and my silent battle on who will hang it first. It is going to go to the right of the rocker…but for now it is a floor ornament.

Anyone who knows Ryan, knows he does not wear shoes all fall/winter long, he wears slippers. He has like 5-6 pairs. I found these little slippers at GAP for $4.99 at the end of the season and HAD TO HAVE THEM. I can’t wait for them to wear their matching slippers in the fall.

Shoes just like daddy's! I can't wait till he fits these in the fall

And here is the saddest site of all. All his stuff packed and ready to go to the hospital. Carseat, boppy and overnight bag. Deep sigh, deep breath, let it out. Maybe tonight.

All packed and ready to go to the hospital

Hope you enjoyed the tour of Bennett’s nursery. This just took way too much time to do…leave comment appreciation for my sacrifice of time…cough, cough, as if I have other things to do!!!!

Ooo, I just love it! Looks like something out of a decorating magazine. You, as I’ve said before, have got the touch, the eye, and the vision for wonderful decor. I jealous.

Oh, Kelly, it’s SO CUTE. My sister used black furniture for my niece and it’s just so darn classy. I know you can’t wait to hold your little boy in that rocker!

(I have three months to go and haven’t even STARTED the nursery. Furniture gathered, but it needs to be painted - I got the coolest hand-me-down vintage crib! It’s so overwhelming. And man, my back hurts…)

I love, love, love his nursery! I know you are ready for him to be in there. I am anxious for your delivery post. I keep stalking your blog in a bad way b/c I just know it will be any minute now.

Love love love it! Jack’s room has black furniture too, and everyone I said it to sort of looked at me cockeyed like it was the most absurd thing they’d ever heard…and then they saw it!

I totally got those down-the-leg cramps once things were going - never got them with Jack, but this time, oh yeah! And another sensation that was new with this labor: they talk about feeling the urge to push before it’s actually time to push. I had no idea what that felt like until I was about 7 or 8 cms and then HOLY HANNAH! They say it’s stronger after the first baby, so if you don’t know already, you have to blow like you’re blowing out a candle. There wasn’t a friggin candle in the entire state of Pennsylvania that could have stayed lit the way I was blowing! But the good thing is, that just meant he was coming down faster and I’d see him sooner.

Can’t wait for you to be on the other side of this - it’ll be here before you know it! In the meantime, hang in there!

    Am I still talking?

You have a great eye for color combining and texture. The nursery is so perfect. :) And the monkey picture is worth the splurge.

Now come on little man, we are all waiting for you!

(Love that bit about editing R. HA!)

The room is just precious! I love, love, love the bed too!

Amazing…as usual. I love his crib!!!! Love the black and love the colors.

Abel’s room is chocolate brown and tealish/blueish. One wall is brown and the other 3 are the tealish/blue….kinda like what you did. So, I love the colors you picked. I put brown circles on the top of the blue walls.

I love the monkey print and all the fun accents. Bennett will LOVE what you did in his room.

And I just know Benny Boy will be here soon. Come on Ben!

I saw on Facebook last night that you were timing contractions, but then I thought to myself as I was going to bed, but it’s not even her due date yet. Glad I didn’t have to point that out to you.

I love the colours in the room. The black furniture looks really strong and masculine.

Wouldn’t it be just appalling if the sonographers got it wrong and the little “package” they saw was just a finger! Tee hee! We’ll find out soon enough!

Oh, and the same thing happens with the colours in my photos when I put them on the internet too - I’m glad it’s not just me.

  9. 9 divrchk Apr 22nd, 2008 at 6:27 pm

  11. 11 chrissy Apr 22nd, 2008 at 7:31 pm

i know what that shelf needs………a picture of his aunt chrissy. (just a thought)

    ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh kidding.

ps: you have every right to be ‘put off.’ you are in pain and he needs to be a good boy and get out here. the end.

  16. 16 Trish Apr 23rd, 2008 at 8:03 am

Yes you do have an eye for decorating. If you didn’t work in photography you could be an interior designer! The nursery is just adorable! I know you can hardly wait for Bennett’s arrival. I check in everyday hoping to see an update saying you are headed to the hospital or that your water broke or something. Keep the faith sweetie. You due date is only 9 days away now.
    Hugs

Of course this looks amazing - you have a gift, my friend.

now, onto the main event…still sending you vibes of labor and lots of prayers to get that boy out.

  18. 18 andrea Apr 23rd, 2008 at 8:34 am

Beautiful nursery. I love the bedding, just had another friend use it and I fell in love with it. You are almost there, obviously your body is doing something. I predict labor will start in earnest on Friday and you’ll be holding little Bennett by Saturday morning.

  19. 19 O Mama Mia Apr 23rd, 2008 at 9:02 am

GIRL! I just saw your facebook about your contractions & was getting so jealous! But I’m feeling your pain, hun. I’m sending you oodles of good strong do-something, get-ya-somewhere contraction vibes.
LOVE the nursery! I saw them on Flickr & drooled.

  20. 20 Candace Apr 23rd, 2008 at 9:18 am

Hopefully Bennett will take his dad’s appreciation of style and realize how awesome it is to have that nursery! What a lucky little guy. Now if he’d only get on with things and get here to enjoy it. Thinking of you…

  21. 21 Angella Apr 23rd, 2008 at 9:41 am

    You have such great taste!

He’s a lucky kid - here’s hoping he arrives SOON!

  22. 22 Natalie Apr 23rd, 2008 at 10:45 am

Love it, Love it, Love it. I love that it is not the primary colors usually used with “fish” themes. Hopefully he decides to come out soon…really soon :)

  23. 23 Kindra Apr 23rd, 2008 at 11:00 am

Wow, his little nursery is just gorgeous. It’s so well done!

  24. 24 Leiah Apr 23rd, 2008 at 12:54 pm

Beau-ti-ful! Love, love, love it. When I win the lottery and buy my mansion you are SO my decorator. Fer real and then I’m getting married again (to John, duh) and you and Ryan are taking my wedding photos just cause I’ll be rich and can do it. :)
    Note to Bennett:
1st try: Come out, come out, wherever you are! Mommy and Daddy and Chloe want to see you.

2nd try: Bennett! You get out here right now mister!

Yeah, I don’t do the three strikes thing, too impatient. Hope he shows up soon, sweetie.

  25. 25 Kaili Apr 23rd, 2008 at 2:16 pm

So cute! Thanks for sharing your time with us and showing us how adorable Bennett-Bear’s room is!

  26. 26 Kristin Apr 23rd, 2008 at 2:53 pm

So adorable! Did you make the bumper and bed skirt or find them somewhere? I love the fish theme and the monkey print. So cute. I saw some wall decals of fish, maybe sharks on Etsy. She does custom things too. Hope it helps.

OMG…Kelly that is the most amazing nursery I have ever seen! You make me want to decorate, except for the fact that I know it will never turn out that good and I would be upset! Sending baby vibes your way doll!

  28. 28 Holli Apr 23rd, 2008 at 5:44 pm

Exactly when did you find the time and energy to pull together the PERFECT BOY’S NURSERY? I echo pretty much every one in saying that you have a true gift my friend. The black crib is super classy-it makes it even better that you got it for a bargain…love a bargain!! It’s boyish without being to “tonka trushish” OR to sissified! LOVE those slippers, I’ll keep my eye out for some for Xan because Alex also loves some warmth on a cold night…

  29. 29 Shari♥ Apr 23rd, 2008 at 6:46 pm

Love the color scheme, peacefull. I must admit that the statement “fish theme” had me wondering but it is precious!

Def frame the Bennett print, i’m thinking thick black wood…maybe hung just above the shelving?? Of course, you def have more of an eye for these things. I’m sure you will find the perfect fit!

  30. 30 Melany Apr 24th, 2008 at 1:53 am

That looks great. I love his room. Such a great little boy room. I hope he makes his arrival soon

  31. 31 Elizabeth Apr 24th, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Bennett’s room is just precious! We didn’t know what we were having either time so it made our nursery rather generic. Poor Anna (my #2) had to settle into her big brother’s old nursery. I at least bought her some girlie bedding after she got here! Hopefully she’s not scarred for life.

How did you get the textured look on the walls of his room? We have some imperfect walls in our house after we removed some old wallpaper. I loved that texture look.

Good luck with the birth. It’s just right around the corner and then you’ll be running your legs off! Trust me. Mine are 19 months apart.

  32. 32 Erin Apr 24th, 2008 at 7:33 pm

    I LOVE IT! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!

  33. 33 ShannonW Apr 24th, 2008 at 8:08 pm

I love that nursery. Bennett will too. I’m sure you’ve walked in there a gazillion times out of anxiousness for him to come. I did that with my son and sat in that rocker and just imagined him in my arms and now in a blink of an eye he’s here and 3! If you haven’t had him yet, I would place my bets on tomorrow for Bennett’s arrival, the 25th, b/c it’s my sons 3rd bday.

  34. 34 lynne Apr 24th, 2008 at 8:13 pm

Thank you for the Bennett nursery pictures!! I love love love it! Praying for you sweet Kelly and for Ryan and Chloe too :). We hope you at least get to enjoy the Office tonight if you are not having a baby yet! Lot’s of love!

That is a gorgeous nursery! I love it!

I bet the new one probably has arrived by now!

  36. 36 christina Apr 25th, 2008 at 6:04 am

A little late in the commenting but the nursery is beautiful. Seriously I am going to hire you to come to Delaware and decorate our next house. I just absolutely loooove your style!!

Baby B will be here before you know it!!

  37. 37 Jude Apr 26th, 2008 at 6:50 pm

I can genuinely say that is the nicest nursery I have ever seen ever, ever. I love it! I wanna come and play at your house. Kellie - you sound so like me at the end of my pregnancies - I whine, I moan, I count the minutes, I re-tidy the tidy nursery and smell all the linens. I am crazy when i have to wait for anything - but the end of pregnancy is the WORST! I am sending you ‘go into labour’ vibes all the way from Perth Western Australia.

  38. 38 joy Apr 30th, 2008 at 1:29 pm

love love love the nursery Kel! great job. He is going to be so cute in his room all customized for him. Love the colors and the pictures. Well done sweetie.
