He has a face!

You can all breath a sigh of relief. We finally got to see Bennett’s face and boy oh boy was he a cutie. The ultrasound was so awesome, we saw SOOOOO much. It is such a crazy thing to watch your child on the screen and at the same time feel them moving inside of you…very surreal. It is also hard when you realize it is the last time you will “see” your child before you SEE your child. I wish I had an ultrasound machine at home, I would watch him all day.

So check it out…..

Bennett 23.3 weeks

This was Chloe at 24weeks….can we say siblings!

Chloe 24 weeks

But I ask you moms out there…don’t all babies look the same at this point? I mean how much difference can there be? We were just pumped to see him and watch him in action. Nose….check, two eyes….check, two lips….check, a chin….check. He had a little bit of a fascination with his package a few times during the ultra sound. Do we have a future jock on our hands? Yes Bennett, it is still there, it did not float away.

So I went and spent our life’s savings at Lowes and Home Depot last week purchasing a tub, tile, sinks, faucets, etc…. It was really fun to shop but not so fun at the cash register when the hammer dropped. The good thing is I get my brother’s discount so that really really worked in our favor. Her is a little taste of what’s to come.

A glimpse of things to come...the new sinks

We are doing copper accents. That is our new sink/vanity that is sitting in our upstairs hallway. This actually feels like a big girl bathroom. You know you are moving up when you leave press board cabinets and linoleum behind. It is going to be really pretty when it is all done. The big question….what color to paint the walls. Oh the choices!

So I am learning to be flexible….LEARNING it, not perfecting it. Things feel totally out of control right now. I have a tub sitting on my front porch (WHITE TRASH!!!) I have ceramic tiles and new plumbing pipes sitting on my kitchen floor and sinks, vanities, and lights cluttering up my hallway. Do you realize how this makes me feel? Like an elephant is sitting on my lungs! I have to constantly give it to Jesus and just learn to live in the moment. There is a constant white powder cloud floating around so cleaning is futile until this is done. How do people do this for months and months by living in a renovated state for long periods. Kudos to you!

I decided to show you Chloe’s room. There isn’t anything that mind blowing about it and we haven’t hung everything up yet…but she finally has a really big room to play in and that makes me so happy. Her last room was 9 X 10 feet. An absolute matchbox! Now she has tons of room to play in and KILLER walk-in closets at each end of her room. The closets were a major selling point to me.

Let’s let Chloe take us on a little tour. Come on ya’ll.

Chloe's room

The best part of this house is the 9 foot ceilings. The windows are so huge and every room is so light and airy….total 180 from our last house.

Chloe's room

Chloe's room

Now a little disclaimer. The chair in the corner is electric blue ( I went through a funky lime green/electric blue phase in ‘98…shame on me) I desperately need to recover this chair so right now I ghettofied it with some sheets…classy I know!

I love her little table and chairs. I picked this bad boy up at a garage sale for $20.00…solid wood…tea for two!

Tea for two

My pillows I made for the trade show fit perfectly.

Wee chair with Amy Butler pillow

Can someone say ghetto chair? I need to recover this to match

And a peak into one closet. There is so much stuff in here I need to organize. You get to see my dirty little secret. Shove everything into the closets.

Big fatty closests!

Still more to organize and unpack

You can get a little scope if you can imagine that that is a queen size mattress against the wall and there is still all this space above and to the right. These closets are amazing.

Her stomping ground

Let’s end on a high note with a few Chloe shots.

She was reviewing our new price sheets….what do you think Chloe? Can mommy and daddy sucker some more brides this year?

Thinking

Daddy/Chloe moment

There you have it. Chloe’s stomping ground. Come again.

Love the ultra sound pics. It’s still amazing to me, even after 3 children that our bodies can build and carry these babies. It is amazing!

Love Chloe’s room. It is huge!!

Looks like you guys are moving right along on settling in. I know I know it takes forever to get it set up.. and then with your major set back.. that didnt help. But it looks like things are shaping up.

When I had ultrasounds of my kids.. I didnt think any of them looked the same.. and none of my kids looked like each other despite the fact that they all had the same mom and dad. I think Bennett and Cloe’s ulrasounds look amazingly the same. So.. yeah.. ya just never now.. you will soon see you precious baby boy!

    Congratulations!

Yea for the sweet ultrasound pics!

I love Chloe’s room! My girls have hardwood floors in their rooms and they are the best. Hey, that music table looks very familiar. ;)
Love that pillow you made, too, AND the copper accents you are going with. I hate for things to be out of control. I am a control freak and I don’t know if I could ever survive truly renovating a house or building one, but oh do I dream of it!

p.s. where did you find that cute little trunk?!?

  5. 5 Melany Jan 15th, 2008 at 2:10 pm

Oh I love her room!! So nice and big! Love that it has so much light. Just lovely. Of course your little boy is gorgeous :)

your son is so handsome already! i know, i know, lame. but, it’s true! i bet he looks like chloe-ster. i bet, i bet.

love chloe’s pad. i loved her old room but this….the color….the size….so much more grown up. sniff.

in addition, i wanted to add: imagine my poor mother enduring over a YEAR of house chaos while the addition went up. she’s a saint. she’s mildly ocd and i thought she was going to die. i give you credit, sister…….

you really and truly have an adorable style. everything from the flower pots on the wall to the lime green trunk under her table. and i heart those pillows!
i can’t wait to see the finished product! you are a trooper for being pregnant and remodeling. i would be the same way with stuff everywhere.
the closets might be the very best part! wowsers!

Sweet, sweet, Bennett boy face. Amazing to watch them on the screen! And I haven’t forgotten his little gift. It is coming. I just can’t seem to make it to the post office.

(Abel plays with his package often. I can’t believe it starts so young!)

And did you say 2 walk-in closets??? Chloe has more closets then me. I have one small, tiny closets. Soooo not fair. But I am so happy for you guys. And I love the hardwood! I want to come have tea with Chloe.

  9. 9 Beth Jan 15th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

Hi Kelly!!! It’s Beth from the long lost email you sent me a while back! And this is me commenting for the first time on your blog! Could I use another exclamation point??!!?? Yes, yes I can. Ok, seriously though, wow, your house looks better than mine and I’ve been here 3 years. Bryan can definitely do those graphics if you are still interested and please let me know when I can come over and play photographer with you.

Do you ever get tired of us telling you how awesome your decorating skills are? Chloe’s room is freaking AWESOME! I love it! LOVE LOVE LOVE. And it is SOOOO much bigger! Definitely enough room for it to be her play room too. You did a great job. And that play table, huge steal! I love thrifting! I hope to come across something like that for Peyton soon.

  11. 11 Prue Jan 15th, 2008 at 4:50 pm

    Wow! Those cupboards are HUGE!

By the way - white trash? Are you saying you are white trash, or the tub is trash and is white coloured?!

  12. 12 Eli Jan 15th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

My house is under construction as well. Overwhelming! I HATE disorganization!!! It makes me feel as if I can never just sit down and rest. I must constantly be picking up and cleaning. Thankfully, it doesn’t last forever!

    Love the progress. Good luck!

  13. 13 Elizabeth Jan 15th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

Cute little boy. That house is incredible. Hunter’s room now is not even as big as Chloe’s old room… and I think that our master bedroom is the same size as her room. Uh oh, thou shalt not covet, Elizabeth….

  14. 14 missie Jan 15th, 2008 at 7:16 pm

    He’s beautiful!!

    She’s beautiful!!

Your house is beautiful… and what isn’t will be soon! :)

I agree - love the closets, LOVE the windows!! So glad you’re enjoying all your blessings!!

  15. 15 O Mama Mia Jan 15th, 2008 at 8:09 pm

Chloe’s closets are the new envy of my eyes. I’d make those her sleeping quarters. ;) And I have no CLUE what you are talking about… not much hung up.. blah blah blah…. FABULOUS!
LOVE Bennett’s profile shot! We get to go for our last 4D this weekend so I’m praying Tootsie cooperates & we come home with a video. So excited!!

What a cute ultrasound shot of your little one! Your house is looking amazing! I think I need to hire you to come to Charlottesville to motivate my butt to paint my girls rooms and decorate!!

  17. 17 MO Jan 16th, 2008 at 7:51 am

What a cutie pie! I love your hardwoods!!!

  18. 18 christina Jan 16th, 2008 at 8:14 am

Could I just comment again on your decorating skills!! I’m loving Chloe’s room! The closet space rocks! and the little boy is is a cutie. I can’t wait till we get out of our tiny little house less than a year from now yipee!!

  19. 19 Jennifer Jan 16th, 2008 at 2:04 pm

Chloe and Bennett seem to have the same little nose from the u/s, but yeah it is hard to tell now. Glad he is doing well and healthy!

OMG I want her closets. We have a small house now (had a huge one out in the dessert but chose a smaller house in a nicer state!), and I miss closets.

With the sheet the chair looks almost green and it works!

  20. 20 Kaili Jan 16th, 2008 at 4:54 pm

Everything looks great! Nice to see an update and Bennett looks cute in his first shots! :)

  21. 21 fidget Jan 17th, 2008 at 9:32 am

her room looks fantastic! I cant wait to see the bathroom. And the sibs look like they will have the same nose!

  22. 22 Holli Jan 17th, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Is it possible that Bennett has even fuller cheeks than Chloe? Those cheeks will be perfect for kissing, you can already tell! LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of Chloe’s room and those hard wood floors are gorgeous! The new house is coming together so nicely..I’m right there with you on the feeling of living in a reno-zone. It’s really frustrating and you have to constantly keep reminding yourself that it WILL get better. It’s all those little things that still need finishing that I tend to focus on and it gets a bit depressing! Everything that you HAVE finished looks fantastic and it’s just a matter of time before the rest will catch up, too.

I can’t wait to see pics of Bennett along with Chloe.Your home is beautifully decorated and appears to be coming along despite the few setbacks. You just have to tell yourself “this too shall pass”. I love your style and vision. You should give us some tips on decorating on a budget. Where to do you find such cute accents?

  24. 24 gorillabuns Jan 18th, 2008 at 12:42 am

how beautiful is she? and he?

and how do you keep her room so clean? really?

    enough with the question marks?
