Bhhhhlaat

That is how my stomach feels. Oh yes, the nausea has been nice and consistent the last few months and every once in a blue moon I will throw up. Usually when I eat something I shouldn’t such as a 1/4 pounder from McDonald’s. It had no business in my body and my body made sure I knew that. But it was SOOOOOO good going down. Mmmmmmmmm

Yesterday I thought I would push aside my ultimate comfort food right now, cereal. I know milk makes many preggers stomachs turn, but I LOVE IT! I love it ten times more when I am pregnant. Cereal seems to be the only thing I can eat any time of day and feel satisfied. Sadly I am having a hard time eating vegetables right now, every time I open my refrigerator everything seems to make my stomach do somersaults. I looked at the eggs and thought…well…maybe. So I scrambled up a few eggs and threw a little cheddar on top. First bite..YUM…second….great…third, forth, not bad. As I got towards the end of the bowl I thought I started to feel the first twinges of sweat beading up on my neck. I stared intently at the Today Show, concentrating on Matt Lauer, denying the growing urge in my belly to wretch up every last morsel including my prenatal and folic acid pills. Yeah, I think I made it about 30 seconds after my last bite before I high jumped it over Chloe’s exersaucer and plunged face first into the toilet.

Now I have to say, I don’t mind throwing up, it really doesn’t bother me. Blame a college bulimia stint. I know some people think it is the worst thing ever! I just like that I feel relief afterwards. The sweating, the moaning, the swallowing 9 gallons of spit to deny yourself is not fun. It is over so quickly and then your stomach relaxes. Unfortunately, this “egg throw up” was not your run of the mill throw up. This is the kind where it comes from your toes and you swear someone is impaling you with a sword because the muscles contract so violently. The food came out with such force into the water my face and hair were covered with vomit and toilet water, which lets be honest, toilet water smell only makes your crappy stomach feel crappier. I couldn’t even stop to wipe off my face or hair because it just kept coming over and over. The worst part, I peed my pants. Not a saturated pee, but enough to have to change my underwear. I got one word for you…..SEXY! These are the moments I am SOOOOOO glad I am all by myself so I can clean up with a little dignity. I felt awful all day yesterday. UGH! Oh well, let’s just say I am doing so much better with weight gain this 1st trimester than I did with Chloe. Food aversions aren’t all that bad.

So onto a more positive note. I got my hair cut and colored, but I forgot to have Ryan take pictures yesterday and I can’t seem to do it without making weird angles by holding my stubby arms out in front of me with my 100lb camera. Soooo…you will just have to wait another day. In the mean time, enjoy my Chlo-Chlo.

We took a trip to Barnes and Noble so mommy could feel like a normal human being and order a specialty coffee drink like all her single friends do. Decaf pumpkin spice latte. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!! Oh man, I wanted to lick the cup inside out after my last sip. I can not believe how much they rape you on the prices of these drinks. I read the very salacious OK magazine and Chloe played with the Thomas the Train set in the kiddy section. It was a really nice 45 minutes away from the house. NORMAL.

Check out my fly girl. She is impossible to photograph lately, she is on the move. yesterday she was holding onto a chair swiveled around, let go and walked 4 steps towards me without me asking her to or making her practice. It totally surprised me. She still doesn’t have the confidence, but she is close. I can’t wait!

Go white girl, go white girl go. Just FYI, MERIDYTH…the jeans are sewn this way with the big cuff. This is from Old Navy’s vintage line. They are so cute.

Fly girl

Chloe in her happy place. Eating. She is as passionate about food as mommy is.

Chloe's happy place

sweetest girl in the world

Tell me the joke Chloe, I want to know.

You funny mommy

Her big toe has a flat top. It is funny. Not sure whose feet she has.

Ahhh, the joys of being pregnant! Pregnancy is definitely a humbling experience from beginning to end….I Love Chloe’s ponytails! Too Cute!

those jeans are so sassy! caleb is already in 9 month old pants! can you believe it? his belly is just bustin’ out and proud. i have to fold his pant legs up like that because my 4 1/2 month old actually still has 4 1/2 month old legs. it’s ridiculous, really…but so cute.

sorry bout the puking, but i agree…it does make you feel better to wretch all that nastiness out of your body.

Well that was an informative and full-of-mental-pics post. :)

hmmm… pumpkin spice latte is about all I can think of now. Thanks, Kelly.

I am totally with you. The only thing that makes me feel good is Life Cereal. I am totally nauseaus all day! It sucks- haven’t thrown up yet-but sometimes I wish I could so I could get some relief. And how weird about the milk- I never drink milk-ever and now that I am prego it is soooo good to me.

    ohhhh kelly, ohhhh kelly.
that description of hurling was so spot-on!
mouth watering…sweat beading on forehead…how long does it typically last for you? until 12 weeks? 14 weeks? either way — the end IS in sight and it sounds as though this isn’t the worst of symptoms for you, given your perspective on actually throwing up. LOL.

i, on the otherhand, have never thrown up without bursting into tears….HA! hope you feel better!!

and honestly — i NEEEEEEED to squeeze chlo-chlo’s cheeks AGAIN!!!!

mmmm, these posts remind me of why it truly IS a good idea for us to wait 6 more months before getting pregnant. i lived the scene you described many times a day for 26 weeks with noah. i have to remind myself of this when the “i want to be pregnant” moments come. :) thanks for the reminder, kelly!! hope you’re feeling more inclined to keep those eggs down next time. :) take care!!

I threw up enough last time to make me fear vomiting for the rest of my life. When I start…I cant stop for like days. I am glad it doesnt affect you that way. I am so excited for you guys!!!
Isnt it amazing that we are parents of almost one year olds now??? Scary. Little G has been walking now for a month and he is getting really good. For the first two weeks he would crawl and walk but it has been over a week now since I have seen him on his knees at all! He is a fast one too. I am just glad I can finally let him down in public to play with his sister now and I dont have hm screaming t me to let him crawl around on the dirty floor of Mcdonalds! Now if only someone would tell him he is not even a year old yet so he cant do everything his sister does. He even tries to get inside the tunnels and pull up.
Make sure you post a video when you get her taking some good steps! I still havent posted mine with him all wobbly and now he is walking perfectly.

I loved cereal while I was prego too. Everyone I know thought that was weird. I unfortunately also loved iced honeybuns—that’s a pretty balanced meal right? Cereal and honeybuns?

  12. 12 chrissy Oct 11th, 2007 at 1:48 pm

this description of barfing is completely disgusting. this post woulda had ZERO positivity if you had not posted pictures of that beautiful daughter of yours.
kel, i am so sorry. gross.

  13. 13 Kristin Oct 11th, 2007 at 2:03 pm

That was totally disgusting! I almost felt like puking.

  14. 14 Prue Oct 11th, 2007 at 5:26 pm

I can understand the aversion to vegetables - in my first pregnancy I would feel like throwing up at the thought of broccoli. In my second pregnancy I didn’t have any aversions, but had cravings for fake passionfruit flavoured soft drinks. Everyone thought I was terribly strange!

  15. 15 Erin W Oct 11th, 2007 at 6:25 pm

I dont mind throwing up either, because it usually means relief! I am not pregnant though. I CAN NOT handle being nauseus (sp?). Bulemia stage…been there! :(

Have a great day! Hope you feel better!

  16. 16 Amanda Brown Oct 11th, 2007 at 6:51 pm

I only throw up in the most dire of circumstances: when I get a concussion or when I am in labour. Other than that, I’ve got the stomach of a horse. I WISH I could just puke and feel the relief instead of writhing in nauseated agony.
You poor girl, though. Puking your guts out. What a waste of a quarter pounder. I could totally go for one right now, even with the barf association.
Chloe is sooo freaking cute, Kelly! What is she wearing in the high chair? It looks like my white

  17. 17 Amanda Brown Oct 11th, 2007 at 6:53 pm

Hi. My name is Amanda I like to hit the “submit” button before I am finished typing my comment.

I was sayyyyying…it looks like she’s wearing my white strapless linen sun dress. I know you love me and stuff, but c’mon, dressing your kid to look like me? That’s crossing the line.

  18. 18 Kaili Oct 12th, 2007 at 12:49 am

I was just looking at Jaia’s little piggies last night wondering whos feet he got. Still not sure. They are cute, but don’t know where he got ‘em. Only time will tell.
As always LOVE the Chlo Chlo pics!!

And oh man your preggo sickness reminds me of those days. I only barfed a couple times, but I wished I barfed ALL THE TIME, to take that awful feeling of wanting to away for just a minute.
    Love your honesty!

  19. 19 Jude Oct 12th, 2007 at 8:25 am

I remember feeling like that. i spent the first three months of my pregnancy with Lily sucking a mint Life Saver at all times. I love the picture of her joke telling face.

  20. 20 Holli Oct 12th, 2007 at 9:11 am

yuck! Cereal is grooooooss to throw up because it’s so sweet coming back up. The other morning (after supposedly being WELL out of the sick stage) I ate my cereal, stood up starting walking to the bathroom for make-up time, and felt the urge to throw up. I feel that a lot and thought, no way i’m NOT going to LET myself throw up…yeah right! I thought if I kept my mouth closed it wouldn’t come up…wrong!! Right into my closed mouth it came, um.. GROSS!

  21. 21 Melany aka Supermom Oct 12th, 2007 at 11:23 am

Sorry you are feeling so bad. I was SO lucky not to have any nausea in any of my pregnancies. NOW I WANT PHOTOS OF YOU AND YOUR NEW HAIRSTYLE

  22. 22 Jennifer Oct 12th, 2007 at 11:34 am

Ahhhh, be oh so glad that you aren’t at work. Poor thing. I was so sick with my 2nd pregnancy that I lost over 10 lbs. I could barely eat anything except macaroni and cheese the first few months. I am so thankful my girls came out normal (ans smart!). Try to choke those vitamins down and I don’t know what else. Hang in there-I usually felt better between 12-16 weeks so hopefully that won’t be too much longer.

  23. 23 Jennifer Oct 12th, 2007 at 11:35 am

I just had a flash back-brushing my teeth nearly always made me puke. So I had to brush my teeth before eating so there wouldn’t be anything hardly to vomit up. Ewwww!

  24. 24 Jessica Oct 12th, 2007 at 12:36 pm

I am so glad I found your blog! Looks like we have a lot in common! I have an 11 month old son & I am almost 10 weeks pg with #2. This was quite a shocker for us!

I hear ya on the nausea & not being able to find things that sound good to eat. Cereal is my comfort food too! I have had Rice Chex every night this week for dinner…nothing else ever sounds good.

I look forward to hearing more about your beautiful daughter & new blessing on the way!

  25. 25 Angella Oct 12th, 2007 at 1:12 pm

I never barfed, but was just horribly nauseous. Not enough to puke, though, and you are right - I would have felt SO MUCH BETTER!

I heart Chloe and her jean bum :)

  26. 26 fidget Oct 12th, 2007 at 2:33 pm

my stomach just lurched in sympathy

  27. 27 Karen Oct 12th, 2007 at 5:11 pm

I, unfortunately, can’t bring myself to throw up, and fight it to the very end… I revert to a big baby! :)

I was stunned at my appointment yesterday… as I’ve apparently gained 5 lbs in 4 weeks! I guess it’s because if I don’t eat something every hour, I’m miserable… and most of what sounds good to eat isn’t the healthiest! Oh well!

    Hope you’re feeling better soon!

    Chloe is SO sweet!

    :)

  28. 28 Elizabeth Oct 12th, 2007 at 5:50 pm

Thanks, I don’t miss that part. Wishing you well, soon!

  29. 29 Julie Nickerson Oct 12th, 2007 at 6:39 pm

Oh, Kelly, I love how you describe your life!!!!

And cereal was the only food I could always eat when I was pregnant. I ate it in the am, noon, pm and at 3 in the morning. It always hit the spot. I would try to eat cereals with at least 3 grams of fiber per serving, so I didn’t feel like I was eating bad food all the time.

Chloe is looking so tall and grown up. Wow, they really do grow up WAY TO FAST!!!!

  30. 30 Eli Oct 13th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

Sorry you’re so sick. I was never really sick during my pregnancies, just had the food aversions and extremely keen sense of smell which is not always a good thing!

I lost 12 pounds the first trimester w/ Bambino #1 though. I loved having that deficit to work from!!!!! No so lucky second time around!

  31. 31 Heather H Oct 15th, 2007 at 10:28 am

    double gross.

i’m lovin’ the sweeping bangs for chloe in the high chair.
