The great unveiling

If you saw smoke billowing from our house over the last 7 days, then you saw the affects of Ryan burning the midnight oil to finish redesigning our business site. Yesterday, we ran a booth at a bridal showcase in town and needed to get all our ducks in a row before going. Ryan loves to give me a mini heart attack when we are under the gun by taking his time, thinking things through, sizing up his options, also known as PROCRASTINATION!!!!! I try to be a patient wife…I try…I can’t say I am perfect…you can literally hear my butt getting tighter as each approching day to our deadline arrives and I am still waiting on him. Of course he explains to me a million times that designing a website is easy and fun….making it work is time consuming and boring….so when I look at a site and it LOOKS like nothing has changed, I don’t realize all that goes into the back end. At least that is what he tells me to save face from my beefing at him. All in all, the night before he stayed up till 3:30am and was back up by 7:15am and was able to finish by the time we left at 11:30. So please, if you can all stand and give him a round of applause….enjoy the newly redesigned Kellen Studios site with a greatly updated portfolio by my beloved husband and I. More sections to follow over the month. (Engagement, Bridal and Family)

I would show you a picture of us at our cool little booth, but like all great photographers, we forgot our camera….so you will just have to imagine us in a sea of black, white and pink. It never ceases to amaze me the apathy some people have at selling their products. There were so many booths where the people never ever left their seats BEHIND their table. The girls across from us were representing a spa. One had the tiniest jean skirt you have ever seen with a ribbed tank top and the other girl had painted on shorts and skin tight vest. The picture of professionalism. They never once got up from their chairs to approach anyone. I am not saying you tackle people as they walk by, but for heavens sake, put a little effort into being friendly, shake hands, introduce yourself, hand them something! I guess it makes us stand out even more just because we are personable.

So we will see what comes of this event. I am blown away by how many people are getting married 14-30 months from now!!!! Ummmmm….what is the hold up ladies? I would go postal if I had to have a long engagement…that ain’t me! I know some people have no choice due to extenuating circumstances, but others just put it off.

That’s all I got on a Monday. You can just about see through us right now as we have been worn out with lots of guest and so much to do…May is looking a little more promising for some relaxation. Fingers crossed.

Congrats! What an awesome site! And your photography is beautiful.

I have good friends here in Nashville who are wanting to get into freelance portrait photography. I will have to tell them to check out your site!

Beautiful site. Beautiful photographs. Have you guys thought about venturing into family portraits? You do such a great job with Chloe! Also, i would love to hear how you got started in photography. It is something that I have always been interested…

We are the friends from Nashville (see Jamie’s comment). We are a husband and wife team who are trying to set up website, get a portfolio together and oh yeah and get our business going. My husband too, suffers from creative procrastination and I laughed outloud as I read your post.

Your images are beautiful and I love your website. It is inspiring to know that husbands and wives can take pictures together and be succesful. Best of luck to you.

The website looks great! I sat and watched the gallery slide shows and wished I could get married again! I mean to my husband of course but it just made me want to put on the dress and pick out the flowers again.

you know I love your work..

    The new site looks stunning..

As for long engagements… I don’t really like them either and we haven’t set a date for sure yet but it looks like being just under 2 years *cries*

Purely from a $$ perspective… but i’m working on bringing that down to a 14 mth engagement. hehe wish me luck!

Here in Australia - you struggle to get anything quick. Everything is booked at least 12mths in advance unfortunately.
