MishMash

So I seem to be suffering a mild case of insomnia since the clocks have jumped forward. I just can’t seem to fall asleep before midnight and when I get up to feed Chloe around 5:30 I can’t fall back asleep until 7:00ish. Man it is killing me! Is this normal? I do have a hard time turning off my brain, but I am getting so annoyed with the huge gaps of awake-ness. Seems a cruel irony given my baby is a great sleeper and not keeping me up…yet I can’t stinking sleep.

So I have to get some feedback. Almay has a new line of eyeliner colors that are suppose to boost your eye color. Mine being “rootbeer” color, as Ryan calls them, falls under the purple color boost category. So I purchased this liquid plum liner and I am trying to decide if it is 80’s looking or it really does look fashionable and “pop” my eye color. Anyone, anyone….80’s or so very 2007.

Bring the 80's back with purple liner

In other exciting news, we recently sold our Rebel (thank you Tim) and purchased a second Canon 20D (thank you Tim and tax return). Of course I wish we could afford the EOS 1D Mark III….however, we only shoot weddings on the side….so a $4,000 camera does not fall into our “needs” category. I am just pumped because I usually end up with the older camera when we shoot and every time I seem to have a mild panic attack trying to remember how to use the settings on it. This is not cool when… let’s say…the bride and groom are kissing…you can’t exactly yell “DO OVER, my settings were wrong!” down the aisle. So here she is….ain’t she purdy? Just like her brother, our other 20D…but she is mine…ALL MINE!

My very own 20D...ain't she purdy!

Now my confession, which really isn’t a true confession because I didn’t mean to do it. I have hit the post baby hair loss issue. My hair is falling out at an alarming rate but because I have an insane amount of hair, you can’t tell….but every square inch of my house, the drains, my sheets and most recently, Chloe’s toes are a good gauge of my loss. She does have lint magnets between her toes, it is actually mind blowing how much crap gets between her toes. A couple days ago I was changing her and de-linting her toes when I gasped in horror as one of my hairs had wrapped so tightly around and around her second toe that it was purple on the tip. Was she crying, did she act in pain…NOOOOOO….I mean does she have nerves? So I am desperately trying to keep her foot still and get between her little toes which she was curling tighter than my dad clasps his wallet. The hair had actually cut into her skin, so it was hard to get it. Even days later the little cut is all red and deep into her skin all the way around her toe. She still could care less about this, but I feel so guilty. Ryan keeps saying, “Kelly, it isn’t like you deliberately wrapped your hair around her toe.” But I just keep thinking, what would have happened if I hadn’t seen it.
So here it is. It is hard to see it because I had to take a picture while she was sleeping so she wouldn’t move it, so the picture is grainy. That isn’t a fat roll, that is a cut!

tourniquet toe...one of my hairs wrapped around her second toe...sadness

Lastly on our sea of randomness. Ryan was asked last week to play basketball with other people in the admin. building against the teachers at an elementary school in front of all the kids. The game was today. Let me tell ya…it was a nail biter….techy people verses teachers. You can only imagine the skill level and athleticism that was displayed by these middle aged desk riders. I brought Chloe with me to watch her dad. I can’t say it was a bad idea because she was a total trooper…BUT… I am pretty convinced that Chloe and I are deaf now with 200 elementary kids screeching at the top of their lungs 9 million decibels above the humane level. This is my man hoopin it up for the kiddies. He promised me he would dunk once so I could see it.

My studly husband dunking

Modesty Ryan...modesty. Oh swoon...nothing like impressing 5-10 year olds....oh and a 30 year old wife and mom. This is my opportunity to see a glimpse into Ryan's past....just a glimpse mind you...the "game" was pretty pathetic. One more for the road.

He shoots, he scores
Yeah, I am sure I probably need a legal form to show these kids faces…so pretend you don’t notice them in the background. Thanks.

Thank God you don’t have blond hair, you would have never seen it….ACK!

I was always worried that would happen to Landon, but so far no.

The shedding will end, when I can’t tell you? Mine started right after birth and went all the way till around 8 months, and I don’t have thick hair to begin with!

I like the purple:) Not 80’s at all.

Girl, mine is STILL falling out & Starlet just turned THREE in February! Hubz is constantly yelling about how clogged the shower is. Oops!
    I’m drooling over that cam!!!
I’m ALL for colors!! LURV ‘em! I have blue/ grey/ green/ hazel mish-mash eyes & I love a fun purple shade & liner. And a blue. And a jade. Yes, ma’am, I am oh so happy color is back in style! So is Starlet now that she has discovered that ginormous box under my vanity. ;)

Oh I am pulling out CLUMPS of hair each day… freakin clumps!! I can provide hair for a medium size zoo animal at this point - it’s crazy! And all over the house is right… the house, our clothing, the kid, the dogs — the neighbors are starting to complain that the rouge hairs are working their way down to their house… as if they are going to gang up and form a union or something.

Mine is so bad that I even have a bald spot… the hubbie calls it sympathy balding… HA as if!

Purple?? Not sure I could get away with it - but you are trendy so have at it! Looks great!

hmm…the purple…it looks a little 80’s up close, but i think in the whole context of your face, it will work. Need to see it in context, not on it’s own. I loved those faculty basketball games at HHS; all those middle aged men trying to prove they’ve still got it. I’m sure Ryan showed them the meaning of “WAZ-UP!”

Oh the days of falling out hair lol!! I lost a lot and now that the hair is finally growing in I now have little stick hairs coming out from all over :)
As for the purple it seems you could pull it off, though seeing a further away picutre might help get the whole picture. I don’t think everyone can pull off a purple eyeliner though.

With Eye liner(since I use it often) I’m a fan of Bluew close to the eye with a nice pink eye shadow that goes at least to the eyebrow.

When reading about adult women hair problems.. I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

I love the purple! You and I have similar coloring/eye/hair color. I often wear an even darker purple liner, with a greyish shadow on top. Love it! Green is great next to brown eyes too. They say to wear contrasting colors!

Thanks for the sweet comments - I wish you were closer to borrow shoes too!

Poor little baby toe…..she’s tough ;)

i need makeup tips… in the pic of you with the camera, your eyes pop out of the picture and you can’t really tell your eyeliner is purple… so it works. it gives your eyes a smoky, sexy look. is this the first time you’ve seen ryan play basketball? let’s face it, the boy can play just about any sport. my hair always falls out, so i know what you’re going through… just try to keep it out of the food. chloe has so much padding she probably didn’t even notice her circulation being cut off…are you sure it wasn’t ryan’s hair? poor thing… look on the bright side, now you can make up your own ‘this little piggy’ for that toe… ‘this little piggy went to market’, ‘this little piggy stayed home because mommy need propecia’…

I LOVE THE PURPLE!!!!! rock it, sister!

  13. 13 Kim Mar 22nd, 2007 at 2:48 pm

    1. The purple looks great. It is not 80’s at all and it really does make your eyes pop.

    2. The hair thing, Oh my gosh, I had that after Madison and it lasted until I got pregnant with Dylan. I thought it would never end. I could never notice it on my head as in a bald spot or anything but it would clog the drains, be all over the laundry, I’d wake up with hair in my mouth from the pillow being covered in it, etc. It was awful. Luckily, after Dylan it only lasted about a year so at least it does get better!

    3. Congrats on the camera, it rocks and don’t feel too bad about Chloe’s toe, it’s not the last time you’re going to indirectly cause her pain. It breaks your heart though. I know the feeling. I can’t believe she didn’t cry, she must be a real angel, you’re so lucky!

i’m a big fan of the purple - totally love it. just don’t match it with your shirt and you’ll be alllll good.

  15. 15 Imperfect Christian Mar 23rd, 2007 at 8:03 am

I don’t think it’s 80-ish at all! Very subtle, but it works! You have gorgeous peepers! I love the “root beer color” remark!

  16. 16 chrissy Mar 23rd, 2007 at 12:32 pm

ok. i love you and i love the almay thing. but with it thickly across the lid, it’s a bit 80’s. what is the color palate it comes with? if it’s a lighter shade, you can avoid the 80’s thing by putting that color more to the outter corners of your eye and the lighter shade near the inner parts. do you want me to come show you? :)

and, i must say, ryan is a flying basket ball GOD in that picture. you swooned, didn’t you?? admit it.

looks great, but smudge it some to soften the color. i have dark brown eyes and purple looks fab on dark eyes. benefit has a color called “But seriously folks” that is very sheer but a lovely shade of lilacy (is that a word?) purple. i’ve recently tried out some ice blue on the lids too, but very lightly in a non-tammy-faye kind of way. looks nice on brown too.

  18. 18 Leiah Mar 24th, 2007 at 12:37 pm

~Love the purple, I’m totally going to copy you.

~So sad about Chloe’s toe. I’ve found a few strands in Lily’s hands and one in her diaper?! WTH? Hope it didn’t get there the hard way! I actually just chopped all of it off in a fit of “Get the hell out of my face” rage, but I like it. Although now I feel very much the suburban mommy.

~I’ve bookmarked you. You’re one funny chica.

  19. 19 Heather Mar 25th, 2007 at 7:43 pm

Personally, I’ve been using the Almay brown-eye stuff for a year now, and I really like it! I have both packs - the “play up” and the other one, whatever it’s called.
