I call them "the talk" you know it's that talk you have with a friend that has just been thru a crisis, that says: Everything is going to be ok, we will make it thru this together. I mean it's not the talk you have with your friend all the time but you can use it when you need it and it encourages them.

It never lets me down.. I try all else first and then i just give it to her and it works.. Let me encourage you to relax right now and fall asleep, let me encourage you to forget that you are cold..and let me warm you, let me encourage you to forget about your gas for a second and let me pat you.. Let me encourage you to enjoy your car seat..

Ahh it encourages ME TO ENJOY MOTHERHOOD.. I'm soo thankful for the Pacifier.. it truly does Pacify.. ahhh I mean she's not still going to be sucking on it when she's 3 but for now it works. We can always take it away you know?

GO FOR IT!! They are lifesavers. All my kids have had them. The first two boys had them for at least two years and they have beautiful teeth. Okay, the didn't suck on it 24/7 though. More like when they needed comfort or for going to sleep

I was against "binkies" (as we call them) until Elizabeth was 2 weeks old and nothing would calm her. It worked the first time, and I was in love with them.

Then when we did Ferberizing with her, she started sucking her thumb, prefers that and hasn't taken a binkie since she was 3.5 months.

Its a personal decision, and I wouldn't worry about it at all!

Hey Kelly, I have been reading your post ever since the scare you had at the beginning of your pregnancy. God has truly blessed you and Ryan with a beautiful baby. Here's my thing on pacifiers... I was super happy when my daughter took one, we could pretty much calm the infant storms that would occasionally arrive with it. And for the perfect weaning we simply cut the bulb. However, when my first son was born he wouldn't take one. We tried and tried. He sucks his thumb.. grr, I can't cut that, now what do I do? haha Yeah and then guess what. Here comes baby #3. He won't take a pacifier either. They sure are cute sucking their thumbs BUT, it's a whole lot easier weaning them off of a "binky"!

What a timely post! We just had the pacifier issue come up last night - Bridget wouldn't stop crying and I think she is having a growth spurt, but she'd stay on the boob forever just suckling. We gave her a paci but I felt so bad about it, that I took it away. I guess I was being silly - if nothing else works, and the baby just wants to suck, what's the harm?

Thanks for posting this!
