Chloe will never remember the trauma of her first sponge bath, but we documented it last week for her memory book.
It didn’t start out too bad being stripped down, but once we added some water she was not happy!
She was not having it. The second time we did the sponge bath she did better and the third time even less crying. That literally is the only time we have heard her cry. If I were naked and wet in a house with wood floors and drafts, I would probably cry too.
Today during our awake “play time” I decided to pull out the floor gym and see how she liked it. She did really good, just stared at everything intently for about 30 minutes. It was really cute. At this point, it is hard to know how to “play” with her to keep her awake. I read it is normal for them to just stare with blank expressions as they are training the 12 muscles around the eye to focus. I love it when she just randomly starts smiling at me or some inanimate object. She has the CUTEST dimples on both sides of her mouth that about melt my heart. That is all mommy, I had dimples but somewhere along the way, lost one. Not sure how you loose a dimple…but dang if I didn’t. So here she is in all her floor gym glory….
A double dose of cuteness!!!! She doesn’t understand how adorable she is yet.
So there is your Chloe picture fix for the weekend. She is sleeping through the best movie “Elf” right now. I have been trying to get her up for hours and she just isn’ t having it. She slept for 6.5 hours last night and I would LOVE for that to be a repeat performance tonight… unfortunately she is in nap heaven. She is missing Buddy the Elf and all the great one liners. Just a few of my favorite:
“You sit on a throne of lies. You smell like beef and cheese, you don’t smell like Santa.”
“Smiling is my favorite…let’s make work your favorite.”
“Not now arctic puffin!”
“OOOOHHHH a finger prick, that’s cold.”
“My finger has a heartbeat.”
“Can I listen to your necklace?”
“Syrup in coffee, why didn’t I think of that?”
“Is there sugar in syrup…then YES.”
Too many to type. This is a must see every Thanksgiving season to get me ready for Christmas. Ugh…Christmas is only 6 weeks away. Can someone send us a money tree? Anyone?

So sweet. You just wait because they only get cuter. I remember when G was first born I thought she was the cutest thing in the world and every month I would look back at her pics and I couldnt believe how much cuter she had gotten. Now I look at her newborn pics and I am kidan like…uh…she wasnt that cute…lol!!!! I cant wait till boy G is about 3 months so I can really see what he will look like.
I cant believe she stayed awake for 30 mins looking around. My boy just wakes up and eats and then looks around while I change him and maybe for 10 mins after then he nurses again and goes right back to sleep. I am enjoying ho wmuch he sleeps!!!
I am so happy for you. Its such a wonderful experiances isnt it. I remember with my first the extreme happiness I woke up with everyday because of her. I still do that now too but I guess with an older one too its a little different.
Oh my gosh that’s the best movie ever! I laugh so hard every time I see that movie like it’s the first time I’ve seen it. I’m glad someone else appreciates it as much as I do…Chloe is beautiful by the way! Such pretty dark hair! She’s so tiny and delicate. Kiss her often (I’m sure you already do).
Hehehe…loving those last two photos….she looks so sweet. You two are professional photographers, are you? I should have guessed from the quality. Ahhh, wish you could take some for us too
Ryder hated his first bath, behaved better in his second and has moments each time now. Although he also has moments where he seems to really be enjoying it. Can’t quite work that out yet…
She has dimples~!! I love love dimples. I wish *I* had 6.5 hours sleep last night. I’m operating on 3 today.
Hi Kelly,
Happy Thanksgiving, a little early.
Dar and I both seperately thought of you today and were like “I wonder if Kelly & Ryan had their baby yet…” so of course as soon as I got home from church I immediately surfed my way to your blog to find out! CONGRATULATIONS! She’s gorgeous! I’m sure you guys are tired and everything but I’m confident you guys are the best parents ever. We’re gonna be in Lburg for Thanksgiving. Hopefully we can see you guys and the beautiful babe as well.
oh and i love the redesign for your photography site. great job, ryan! love it!
She is so darn cute! I love how big her eyes are and how attentive she looks with her playmat! Congrats on the sleep, that’s fantastic!
She is adorable. Peyton has slept through Elf twice now, so only one more chance for him to see it. Yes, I’ve already watched it two days in a row and I plan to watch it again tonight!! I think I need to just go ahead and buy the DVD…
Love, love, love the pics. I feel like the old grannie who can’t get enough of the “youth”. I wish I could reach out and touch those toes. I told Alex after seeing your baby pics that we were flying you guys up when we have a baby because they are such beautiful shots!
“this place reminds me of santa’s workshop! except it smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.”
the beef and cheese comment had me laughing for days. that is just TOO funny……..
kel….she’s amazing. really. and you look like such a good mommy, already!!!
