Houston, we have lift-off

No…I am not on my way to the hospital. But after 4 weeks of hearing that “NOTHING” is happening by way of cervix…..we have had some action since Friday. Literally, Friday, I thought it was it. I had so many people praying for that day because it was the last day my doctor was on the schedule until 11/11….jerk…totally went on vacation during MY DUE DATE WEEK! I see where his loyalty lies. I had tons of cramping, contracting, “pressure” for almost a full day. I called to see if they could work me in and check me. The Dr. I saw was really cool and thorough. He told Ryan and I that my cervix was absolute “mush”…so on the one side of the cervix, things were progressing nicely. On Chloe’s side…nothing was happening! What a stinker she is being. Needless to say, we were encouraged things were finally happening…but sad that my hopes of having Dr. Baker were gone. All weekend I was having more “practice” contractions…..so so so so so lame to practice contracting….TONS of cramping…like the worse period that won’t end and, of course, my favorite term, PRESSURE! Having a baby slammed down into your pelvis on top of your bladder constitutes a word a little stronger than pressure…but you get the point. I have flown through some toilet paper in the last few weeks. Literally, I can pee every 5 minutes with the same urgency. It is ridiculous!
So today was my next exam. I got to meet with Dr. Phemister, who everyone raves about! He is my second choice next to Dr. Baker. Okay, he is a total riot. I don’t know if you should laugh that much while receiving a vaggie exam…but Ryan and I had a good time with him. I told him I was game for anything to get the ball rolling. Truly, I told him if he thought plucking my nose hairs would work..I was on it! We got more good news…I am finally dilated….just one centimeter…however, she is lower in my pelvis too, a -2 station. I know some of you will gasp at my next sentence if you are 100% natural…but I ain’t! Once he was in the cervix I told him to do his thing, so he “stirred it up” or stripped the membrane. Let me just tell you, I about came off the table. My pits started sweating like crazy and I just grabbed the sides of the table and looked at Ryan with doe eyes pleading for him to help me! YIKES! That is NOT for the faint of heart. The kicker will be if nothing really comes of it. At least Dr. Phemister and I got to bond right?
So we wait and see, wait and see and hope that today, tomorrow…good Lord…soon….she comes. The Dr. was very optimistic about me going soon, he told me to make an appt. for next week, but said I probably won’t need it. Only God knows, so send up a prayer for us. We are so ready…literally…we got our ducks in a row over the last few days with the house, our business, and miscellaneous things that we have been putting off. Keep posted, Ryan will be updating my blog from the hospital and putting pictures on.

That kid is getting a spanking as soon as she gets out of the womb! I will not tolerate defiance in my home.

Good luck and I am soooo excited. I hope that it works for you… I had my membranes “stripped” three times! Then.. I was induced. Just a little positive vibe for you, sorry to bring (what could be) bad news…

Kelly,I was 7 days late with Ryan and saw my Dr.on a Friday evening, I had the same type of exam. (they didn’t tell you what they were doing then, back in the old days) Saturday morning put my feet on the floor and had a labor pain;Ryan was born 3 hours later! all 9lb 2oz of him! Just a little encouragement, You’ll do fine,
